In 1942, we established the “Kusatsu Marine and Agricultural Products Processing and Vocational Aide Cooperative” in Kusatsu Minamimachi, Hiroshima City and began the manufacture of tsukudani. Later, “Kusatsu Shokuhin Kogyo Co., Ltd.” was established in Kusatu Higashimachi, Hiroshima City. In 1971, the company merged with Nakamura Shinichi Shoten and the company name was changed to “Hirotsuku Co., Ltd.”
In 1972, the company’s 30th anniversary, “Komochi Kombu,” a seaweed tsukudani originally developed by Hirotuku Co., Ltd. was awarded the “Agriculture and Forestry Minister’s Prize” at the 2nd National Cooked Food and Great Products Fair.
Since then, hijiki tsukudani, “Shiso-flavored hijiki” (developed in 1991) and kombu tsukudani, “Wasabi kombu” (developed in 1998) have become hit products and are now sold not only in the Chugoku Region but also in all regions of Kyushu, Shikoku, Kinki and in major cities in the Chubu and Kanto Regions.

Setoikada: Komochi Kombu

Komochi Kombu is tsukudani (seaweed simmered in soy sauce) that brings together the light flavor of crushed pollock roe with carefully cooked kelp (kombu) to make a combination that pairs perfectly with any meal. It is a flagship product of Hirotuku, which was recognized as a The Hiroshima Brand product by the Hiroshima City government in February 2012, and continues to be popular to this day.

Setoikada: Wasabi Shiitake

This popular tsukudani contains bite-size shiitake mushrooms and wasabi stalks with Hiroshima greens and cloud ear mushrooms for that piercing wasabi flavor. Besides tasting great over hot rice, this is also a great topping for somen noodles in the summer and udon in the winter.

Setoikada: Wasabi Kombu

Launched in 1998. We developed a technique to preserve the deliciousness of <wasabi flavor>, a characteristic of “Wasabi Kombu.” This tsukudani has a fine balance between the spicy wasabi flavor and delicious taste of kombu.

Setoikada: Shiso Hijiki with Crunchy Pickled Plum

Released as a sister product to our Shiso Hijiki and Golden Sesame Shiso Hijiki, this popular tsukudani is made by adding crunchy pickled plum to the sweet hijiki and emphasizing the shiso flavor.
