Founded in 1957, we began our pickled foods business as Yamamoto Shoten, and in 1960, were incorporated as Yamamoto Foods, LLC. Since then, we have manufactured pickled foods, using “Hiroshima-na” as our base. As there were over 40 pickled food manufacturers in Hiroshima at the time of our establishment, we raised “Hiroshima-Sakigake” as the spirit of our foundation, which expresses our will to “pioneer what is not/cannot be done by anyone else” because we believed that we could not survive if we followed the path of the competition.

What is Hiroshima-na?

Hiroshima-na is a leaf vegetable, a kind of hakusai (Chinese cabbage), which has been cultivated since ancient times in the middle of the Ota River that flows through Hiroshima City. Almost all of the Hiroshima-na grown is used for Hiroshima-na-zuke. Hiroshima-na-zuke made using Hiroshima-na is considered to be one of the three most famous pickled foods in Japan along with Kyushu’s Taka-na and Shinshu’s Nozawa-na.

“Aki-na”

“Aki-na” is a colorful and elegant pickled food in which matured Hiroshima-na is seasoned with red shiso. Features a mild finish using soy sauce and sesame seeds for a rich taste.

“Yamato”

A kind of pickled food featuring Hiroshima-na and cucumbers cut and pickled with a fragrant shiso flavor and a crispy texture. “Yamato” is gentle on your body as it does not use artificial food coloring or preservatives.

“Chimaki-na”

“Chimaki-na” is an original pickled food of Yamatoyo, in which cucumbers, burdock and mountain vegetables are wrapped with Hiroshima-na-zuke. Each piece of Chimaki-na is carefully wrapped with Hiroshima-na-zuke one-by-one.
