The Company was founded in Matsubara-cho, Hiroshima City in 1951 and began production of its famous confection “Momiji Manju” in 1953 under the name of Nishikido Corporation. Nishikido’s famous confection “Momiji Manju” is made at the break of dawn 365 days a year in its well-maintained sanitized factory. In particular, Nishikido is committed to the selection of top ingredients. Every year, an on-site tour is made to the Tokachi district in Hokkaido to survey Azuki bean fields. Azuki beans are harvested every 8 years in the same field to maintain crop rotation. Cultivated in abundant nature, small and cute Azuki flowers grow to become beautiful Azuki beans in the autumn. These charming offspring of nature are brought all the way back to Hiroshima. In the Kaita district in Hiroshima City where the bean-jam production factory is located, is “Hinourayama Spring,” which is famous for its brand-name spring water. Azuki beans grown in the north relax comfortably here in the south and are reborn as sweet bean jam.

“Momiji Manju”
Momiji Manju is manju that is shaped like a maple leaf, which is the prefectural flower and tree of Hiroshima Prefecture. Momiji Manju is made of bean jam from carefully selected Azuki beans grown in Tokachi, Hokkaido, and a fluffy sponge cake exterior using the famous spring water from Hinourayama. Its light and mildly sweet flavor is loved by young and old alike and was certified as a “Hiroshima Brand” in 2008.
