Job description Increasing productivity in traditional goods; development of demand and new customers

“Executive Committee for Collaboration on the Revitalization of Hiroshima Traditional Crafts Production Regions” was organized in 2012 by the three associations of the “Hiroshima Religious Articles Commerce and Industry Cooperative” “Kumano-fude Business Cooperative” and “Miyajima-zaiku Cooperative” in order for people to experience the “great traditional skills of Hiroshima” close to them and aim at revitalization of traditional crafts production regions and develop new demand.
This exhibit is a “calligraphy brush box” manufactured for the “Hiroshima Traditional Crafts Festa in Shareo ~ Great Skills! Hiroshima” which was held in 2013 in Shareo Kamiya-cho. By packing three traditional techniques which were certified as “Traditional Crafts designated by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry” in one product, it expresses “solidarity” among the three associations having different techniques.

Exhibition of a “large rice paddle golden foil writing brush” which was manufactured in 2012 is held in front of the rotary at the East Entrance of the Hiroshima Prefecture Industrial Exhibition Hall, West Building.

●Outer Box: Hiroshima Buddhist Altar
It was manufactured by using the techniques of “makie” “nuri-urushi” and “kazari-kanagu” out of the seven traditional techniques of a “Hiroshima Buddhist altar.”

●Middle Cover: Miyajima-zaiku
Using “Miyajima-bori” out of “Miyajima-zaiku,” it is expressed by “shizume-bori (sunk carving).”

●Writing Brush: Kumano-fude
For its head, “weasel hair, tanuki hair, cat hair” and for its stick, “Chinese bamboo” are used.
